She was born July 1, 1934, in Breathitt County, Kentucky, to Artemus and Martha (Creech) Henson.
Alpha was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Palmer Powers; her parents; her siblings, Lou Dean Miles and Albert Henson; and many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
She is survived by her loving children: step-son, Donald (Debbie) Powers of Lancaster, South Carolina; daughters, Paula Powers of Dayton, Ohio, and Deborah (Randall) Krugh of Convoy, Ohio.
She leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: Mike (Elizabeth) Powers, Steve (Brandy) Powers, Chad (Tina) Mitchell, Lindsay (Andrew) Heifner, and Kira Krugh (James Howald).
She was a proud great-grandmother to Lydia Powers, Max Powers, Abbie Powers, Luke Powers, Samuel Heifner, Adeline Heifner, Tobias Heifner, and Baby Mitchell, expected in March 2026.
Alpha was known and deeply loved for her sweet spirit and her selfless way of pouring herself out for others. She was grateful for even the smallest kindness and disliked asking for help, never wanting to put anyone out. Her passion and love for her family were the most important parts of her life and the foundation of everything she did.
She was an accomplished seamstress, a phenomenal cook and baker, and could produce amazing feasts from her small kitchen. An avid reader, Alpha found joy in learning and quiet moments, and she took great pride in her home, which she loved and appreciated until her passing.
She will be profoundly missed, and all who knew her are blessed to have been touched by her love.
Visitation will be held at Tobias Funeral Home, Beavercreek, Ohio, on December 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Paul Santoro. Burial will take place at Valley View Memorial Gardens, Xenia, Ohio.
