

Dr. Andrew James Lingg, age 40, of Rochester Hills, MI, formerly of Dayton, Ohio passed away on December 21, 2024. He was born on November 14, 1984, to John Lingg and Cindy Driver at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, OH where he was featured in one of their commercials at 6 months old.
Andrew was preceded in death by his Godmother; Andrea Schaffer, Maternal Aunt; Vickie Fennell, Paternal Uncle; James Lingg Jr., Paternal Grandparents; James Lingg Sr. and Hester Lingg, and Maternal Grandfather; Donald Driver.
Andrew is survived by his loving wife Maria Lingg (Rochester Hills, MI), Father; John Lingg and Fiancé; Susan Terry (Huber Heights, OH), Mother; Cindy Driver (Huber Heights, OH), Brother; Billy (Tawny) Lingg (Troy, OH), Paternal Step-Siblings; Laura (Nathan) Karn, Jacob Freitag (Huber Heights, OH), Maternal Grandma; Marliese Driver (Englewood, OH), Maternal Uncle; Bill (Alicia) Driver (Englewood, OH), Maternal Cousins; Catherine Moeller, Phillip Driver, Brandon Fennel and his family, Paternal Cousin; Jenn Masek and her family, Godfather; Daniel Hurst (Tennessee), Previous Wife; Heather Kolano, Loving pets; Tali, Liara, Alestorm, and Kairi, and his beloved cars; 1995 BMW M3, 2011 Audi R8 and his 2013 Audi A6.
Andrew grew up in Huber Heights, OH and graduated from Wayne High School in 2003. When Andrew was younger, he played Hockey for The Dayton Bombers Youth Hockey League and was a part of the cub scouts for 6 years. In High School he joined the Civil Air Patrol and Air force ROTC which carried into college. Andrew went on to receive his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Wright State University in 2012 where he worked on developing automated recognition of breast cancer from mammograms.
After college Andrew expanded his talents amongst many different jobs. He did Military Contracting work with Etegent Technologies, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) development with General Motors, Cavnue, and General Dynamics. He worked in technical contributing and leadership positions and held multiple patents for inventions in the AI / autonomous vehicle space.
Andrew married Maria in 2016 and soon after moved to Michigan in 2017 to start working at General Motors. Andrew was a huge car enthusiast. He loved maintaining, improving, and racing cars. He enjoyed auto crossing with Miami Valley Sports Car Club where he raced his 1995 BMW M3. Alongside his love for cars, Andrew enjoyed kayaking, especially in the Huron River, brewing beer, visiting breweries and collecting craft beers, scotch and bourbon. He also liked collecting and shooting firearms, video and computer games, “smokey bois” (cigars and drinks) on the patio with his friends and traveling. Andrew will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held on January 02, 2025, 10:00 am -1:30 pm at Tobias- Beavercreek Chapel; 3970 Dayton – Xenia Rd. Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. A service will start at 1:30 pm and a burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
