Schmitt, B. Ann, age 85 of Washington Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2025 at Fairmont Senior Living. We are certain that there is a delay on the Rainbow bridge with all of the dogs waiting for Ann.
Ann was born March 7, 1941 to James Dwight and Susie Mae Cheatham in Louisville, KY. She attended Kentucky Wesleyan, the University of Louisville, and later University of Dayton. She met and married George F. Schmitt, Jr. and soon relocated to Dayton, OH where Ann taught high school for ten years, worked in data acquisition, and was receptionist at Bethany Village before retiring. Ann was foundational in the early success of SICSA, and a rock for Playhouse South Community Theater through the highs and lows of non-profit status. She acted at the playhouse and was also a member of the choir of several churches. Ann supported George, and traveled with him domestically and internationally, often the only source of stability to help him keep his pants up. She raised her sons and many lovable dogs and guinea pigs in Dayton, OH, planning one-of a kind parties at the airport or at the “slush puppy olympics” in the back yard and crafting unique DIY halloween costumes.
She is survived by her loving sons Brandon (Rachel) and Galen (Sabrina), grandkids Liam, Avery and Sophia, cousins, and several lifelong friends. We would like to send a special thanks and love to friends and family who have helped us so much the last few years, and the staff and residents of Fairmont Senior Living.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Ann would want you to first cuddle with your furry friends, treat yourself to something you like, volunteer somewhere and sing. We might suggest Elvis (Ann’s youthful favorite). While not necessary, Memorial contributions may be made in Ann’s name to S.I.C.S.A., 8172 Washington Church Road, Dayton, Ohio 45458, or to a local non-profit that is meaningful to you. Condolences may be sent to www.tobiasfuneralhome.com
