Abner, Bernice, age 98 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, April 25 at Hospice of Dayton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Abner, her parents; Ance and Nellie (Allen) Childs, a daughter, Betty Horstman, and a grandson, Andrew Horstman. She is survived by a daughter, Leslie Abner. Two sisters also survive her; Mary Abner and Hazel Davidson, as do five grandchildren: Bruce (Kristine) Seebeck, Dawn (Justin) Barraclough, Clayton (Genesis) Horstman, Jacob (Kendra) Horstman and Crystal Hellwig, and seven great grandchildren: Alyssa Horstman, Preston Seebeck, Addison Barraclough, Hunter Horstman, Brice Seebeck, Kendall Horstman, and Harrison Horstman. Calling hours will be from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at The Tobias Funeral Home Belmont Chapel, 648 Watervliet Ave. Funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:30 PM Saturday. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to either Hospice of Dayton or SICSA.
