Hoke, Bernice Phillips, age 88 of Dayton Ohio passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Miami Valley South Hospital in Centerville. Bernice was born September 5, 1929 in Hiltons, Virginia to Mamie Clark Phillips. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert Lee Hoke, Sr. She is survived by her son, Robert Hoke, Jr. of Mission Viejo Ca.; her daughter Sylvia Murphy (Tom) Gorman of Santa Fe, NM; two grandsons, Todd Murphy of Chicago and Mark B. Murphy of Boston; two great grandsons, Ciaran & Finnian Murphy of Boston; son-in-law, Michael (Mary Louise) Murphy; granddaughter Michaela Murphy; special cousin, Mary Matteucii; and special friends, Marianne Rosenkranz, Mary Wilson, Ann & Mike Erbaugh. Bernice was a very kind, caring & loving mother, grandmother and friend. She always put others first and had quite a mischievous sense of humor. She had a great sense of style and color which she applied to her work at Diana Shops of New York and K Mart. In her life she participated in many worthwhile & philanthropic activities. She was a very spiritual person and will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank Kim, Lisa & all others who gave Mom loving care at St. Leonards Health & Rehab Center.
