MEININGER, Betty Claire was received into the presence of the Lord on July 13, 2018. Betty was born in Indianapolis on November 15, 1933, to Louis A. Lukenbill and Clara Lukenbill. One of two children she is survived by her sister Martha Midkiff (Mike). A light went on in her life when she met Dr. Daniel Meininger at Indiana University and Betty and Dan were married in 1955. That light has burned brightly for some 65 years. Betty and Dan were blessed with five children and were predeceased by their daughter Michele and are survived by their children, Pamela Houck (Gregory), Dr. Michael Meininger (Judith), Carol Flynn, and Nancy Entrekin (Hugh). Betty and Dan taught and instilled love, spirituality, understanding, an appreciation of art and music, responsibility, kindness, and charity in their children and in many others. Betty and Dan settled in Kettering in 1963 and there was never a dull moment in the Meininger household with multiple band members, sports and constant school and church activities. The Meiningers enjoyed many wonderful summers at Sweetwater Lake with Betty’s mother and cousins and friends. Betty and Dan’s love for each other and their kindness toward all was the glue that held it all together, and Betty was never too busy to soothe a hurt knee or hurt feelings. Betty had a wonderful group of lifelong friends who provided great support and comfort over the years and with whom she enjoyed many lunches, dinners, and girls’ getaways. Betty took great pride and joy in her grandchildren and was always eager to spend time with each of them and to enjoy many card and board games over the years. Betty and Dan hosted many wonderful family trips for their children and grandchildren over the years to Sanibel Island, Hilton Head, Colorado, and West Virginia, creating life long memories for all. She is survived by her 9 grandchildren, Benjamin Houck, Christopher Houck (Brittany), Matthew Meininger, Andrew Meininger, Christopher Meininger, Casey Flynn, Sean Flynn, Oliver Entrekin, and Emerson Entrekin.
