
TAYLOR, Betty Jean left this life to be with the Lord, August 6, 2015. She was born in 1922 and leaves behind a very lonely husband of 55 years-Jack and a devoted daughter, Jackie Taylor; eight nieces, and several grand nieces and nephews. She volunteered at several hospitals during and after World War II, as well as Mobile Meals for over 15 years. She was a gourmet cook and started a gourmet club within the Officers Wives Club and enjoyed being its president. She enjoyed church at Chapel 1, Novembers in Orange Beach, AL and Februarys in Hawaii. In particular she enjoyed sipping Plantation Tea on the Neiman Marcus terrace overlooking Ala Moana Park and the Pacific. She traveled extensively in Europe, Asia and South America, sailed the Panama Canal twice, and flew around the world in 1969. Her most enjoyable was living 3 years in Rome, Italy. While in Rome, in addition to the beautiful sites, dinner at restaurants overlooking the Coliseum, she enjoyed cocktails on the rooftop of the Eden and dinner at the Casa Del Aviatore. Visited every State in the Union. Crossed our country several times by Car many times by Air and one round trip by Train. She also enjoyed visits to Singapore, Laos, Philippines, Japan, China, Thailand (3 months- breakfasts beside the pool at the Erawan), the Taj Mahal by the full moonlight, Rio D Janeiro, Manas, and many countries in Europe. She viewed the Presidents busts on Mount Rushmore, the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, the Washington Monument, had breakfast at Lawrence Welk’s Village where she saw hundreds of humming birds, spent a week-end in Death Valley, visited Crater Lake, visited Yellowstone Nat Park (1 week) witnessed Old Faithful geyser erupting, visited Yosemite National Park for a weekend, witnessed “old ironsides” sailing for its annual certification, climbed the Leaning Tower of Pisa, visited East Berlin when it was occupied by communists, climbed to the statue of Corcovado in Rio, rode to the first level of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, visited the Keukenhof Gardens in Amsterdam, and Stonehenge in England. She prided herself on having flown on the slowest aircraft (Wright B Flyer) and the fastest (Supersonic Concord). Her favorite airplane was the 747, she flew several times on the C141 and the C5, and several times from Rome, Italy to Athens Greece as “Co-Pilot” with Jack in his “C47”. The family will receive friends at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Road, Dayton, OH from 10 am to 12 pm, Tuesdsay August 11, 2015.
