Beulah was born January 27, 1930. She was the second of eleven children born to Henry and Dora Byrd. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dearld (Don) Munsee and siblings Helen Ammon and Naomi, Daniel, David, Timothy and Samuel Byrd. Beulah is survived by her sisters, Doris (Elwood) Abbott of Xenia, Ruth (Thurman) Adams of California, Dora (Walter) Tindall of Florida, a brother Ronald (Sue) Byrd of California and a sister-in-law Barbara (Samuel) Byrd of California and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Beulah moved to California in 1959. It is there she met and worked for Dearld at a dry cleaning store he owned. The two hit it off and were married in 1967. Together they owned several businesses in San Bernardino, California including a dry cleaning business, Jane’s. Customers assumed Beulah was Jane and she never bothered to tell them any differently so the nickname “Jane” stuck with her amongst her friends but her family affectionately calls her Boots or Bootsie.
She enjoyed traveling, reading, watching baseball on TV (Go reds!) and playing the slots in Vegas and gambling games (just for fun) on her tablet. Boots had a sweet tooth and loved candy, moon pies, pepsi and cinnamon pop tarts which she ate for breakfast nearly every day with her instant coffee.
While at the nursing and rehab facility Boots said with tears, “Life is wonderful. I’m thankful for everything.” What a wonderful perspective to have!
Boots will be greatly missed by her family who loved her dearly.
There will be a private service for family only on January 24, 2022 at Tobias Funeral Home in Beavercreek. Beulah will be laid to rest at Valley View Memorial Gardens in Xenia.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Beulah’s name to Hospice of Dayton.
