I was just back in Kettering this last week and heard about Mike's death "through the grapevine". I had been friends with Mike during HIgh School as he was in lots of my classes. We also "double dated" (weird term) for prom our senior year. Lots of fun memories from the 60's! Then every "reunion" we would catch up! I considered Mike a long time good friend. We continued to stay in touch after the 2009 reunion & I appreciated his insights about people, his caring values that he had with maturity ( ha! ha! Mike was always a fun guy, but I think he became a better person with age!) I am saddened with his loss & that I didn't know he was sick. We got together usually when I was up from Fl. to visit family during the summers & after Christmas. I think we rang in the year of 2012! I last saw him the summer of 2012, and then we "lost touch". Now I know why.... Again, I share in the grief of losing a friend. God's blessings to his family. He really was a good man!

Mark,
Just found out about Mike - happen to look him up online to get in touch only to see this devastating news. My heart breaks for you and your family for this loss. All I keep thinking about is his great laugh - my days in Ft Lauderdale with him were always so much fun and he was such a big part of my life at that time - Oh this is just so sad and I am so sorry....

Just now found out about Mike's passing. Very sorry to hear. Sympathy to family. I have many fond memories of being with The Ely's family at their house in high school. They always made me feel like I had a second home. I'll never forget laughing with Mike so hard we couldn't catch our breath. Rest well buddy.

Dear Mark, Marti & Mary, We were very saddened to learn that Mike passed away last Saturday. Although we hadn't seen Mike recently, we will always cherish the fond memories we shared with "Eeels", particularly the Spring golf outings with the Fairmont boys, and his visit with us a number of years ago at our winter home in Tucson (played lots of golf, and we learned that he was quite the handyman around our house). Mike leaves behind many great friends, and he will be missed. Our condolences to you and your family. We are very sorry that we will be unable to attend Mike's Celebration of Life on Friday as we are in Tucson for the Winter, but our thoughts will be with your family when you say goodbye to Mike.

Mark, Mary and Marti,
I'm flooded with so many fond Mike memories and all those good times I spent with you Elys. I have a lot of those "remember the time" moments from holidays to the Lake Erie cottage and Lyman and beyond. It's always tragic to lose a life so young and never more true than saying goodbye to Mike. He'll always be remembered in all our hearts. Rest in peace Mike and we'll see you later.

My thoughts & prayers go out to all of Mike's family. Along with so many others, I have many great memories of Mike (or as I always called him, Mikey). Going all the way back to kindergarten, we were always great buddies & Mike was my 'first boyfriend' in first grade. Fran used to tell me & my mom that she wanted me as her daughter-in-law! Mike was so fun to talk to & he had the best stories. I always thought he seemed to be the glue that kept all of us in the loop about things that were going on & wish I had told him that. I will forever miss his phone calls, hearing him say, 'Hey girl, what's going on?' Mike loved life, his friends & family. You will be forever missed, Mike; & our high school reunions & get-togethers will never, ever be the same. Sweet dreams, Mikey, & we'll all see you again. Now that will be a reunion.... Love you, my sweet man.... Joyce Levy Jordan

So sorry to hear this. Mike and I were in the same grade going back to kindergarten all the way through high school and off to Miami. We were in a lot of classes together. He always had a great sense a humor and just a great demeanor whenever I was with him. My prayers and condolences go out to his family during this tough time. Cherish those great memories.
