Calvin E. Smith

Smith, Calvin E., age 88, a longtime resident of Kettering and currently residing at the Ohio Masonic Home in Springfield, OH passed away on Monday, March 5, 2012 at the Sanctuary at 10 Wilmington Place. He was born in Roanoke, VA, on September 18, 1923, the last surviving child of Archie K. and Eliza (Turner) Smith, who preceded him in death. Calvin was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Billiadean L. (Hale) Smith and his son, Robert A. (Robbie) Smith. He is survived by his 4 children, Kathy Bradley, of Kettering, Jeanni Allamon, of Dayton, James C. and wife, Sheila Smith, of Dayton, Brian and wife, Maria Smith, of Kettering; grandchildren, Hannah Smith and husband, Kris Kleva, Shannon and Kelli Bradley, Sara, Jared and Josh Smith, Abigail Smith, Angela Hill, Amanda and James Sexton; great- grandchildren, Lucy and Lily Kleva, Nicole and Timothy Sexton. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends. Calvin was retired after 35 years of service from D.P. & L. and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member and Past Master of Millenium Lodge #779 F.& A.M., Past High Priest of Mt. Moriah Chapter #230 R.A.M. Past Patron of Beaver Valley Chapter #570 O.E.S.. Calvin was a longtime member of Far Hills Community Church, the Spring Run Fish Club and was an avid golfer. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road. Interment will follow in Miami Valley Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2012 with Blue Lodge and Scottish Rite services beginning at 7:30 p.m. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Ohio Masonic Home for the love and care provided to their father and mother while they were residents of the Home.
