Candy Lynn Howard passed away at Hospice of Dayton on Sunday, January 19, 2020. She was born on June 21, 1958 in Dayton, Ohio to parents Cola and Loretta Banks. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her brother Cola Banks Jr. (Deena) and her beloved dog Sassy. She is survived by her son Larry (Jennifer) Howard, her boyfriend Stan Nieport, her sisters Pam (Monte), Teresa (Ray), and her brother Jamie (Theresa), her grand-dog Frenchy and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Candy worked at multiple Dayton Public Schools over the years. Most recently she held the position as the Head Day Custodian at Belmont High School. She really enjoyed getting to know so many of the kids, teachers and coworkers over the years that became her friends.

Candy enjoyed camping, music and dancing. She lived life to the fullest and her zest for life made her one of those people that you were just drawn to. It was impossible not to have a great time when you were hanging out with “Candyland”. She loved her son, her family and her large circle of friends more than anything else in this world. Her smile, her laugh and her big beautiful heart will be missed more than could ever be expressed.

Memorial donations in Candy’s name may be made to Hospice of Dayton.

A Memorial Visitation for Candy will be held Friday January 31st from 4pm-6pm at the Tobias Funeral Home in Beavercreek, 3970 Dayton Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road. A Memorial Service will begin at 6pm. A wake will follow at Greenmont Village community building (behind Dot's Supermarket on Patterson Rd in Kettering) starting around 7pm. Some food, water and pop will be provided. BYOB. So far, we are having fried chicken, prime rib sandwiches and Candy’s famous potato salad and cheeseball. Anyone that brings an appetizer or covered dish to share would be greatly appreciated.

Im a student from belmont, i wasnt the best student i skipped class alot thats how i got to know candy shed always stop to talk to me in the halls at first it was "get to class!!!" But on a bad day for me it changed she read my face and she comforted me in times that all i wanted to hear was 'itll all be okay' she was the one to say it. I even got to help on a couple projects she had goin at times (if i got a note to leave class of course ) she always took pride in her work at belmont and the students whos lives she effected because i know im not the only one, i remember dylan and someone else they were so close with her i loved seeing how she took those kids in and instead of them skipping and being in trouble they were working hard along with her tought them good work ethic and tactical things , things they wouldnt find in a class room, in short candy was a life changer and will be greatly missed being in a better place, to be absent from the body is to be present with the lord.

I met Candy 20 years ago through family , just a genuine Happy (not quiet) outgoing woman . Then ran into her again through a great group of women , which confirmed the wonderful person I first thought she was! She ended up working at the high school where my girls attended and so again our paths crossed and was lucky to spend more time with her . Candy was just an all around great woman and I'm so sorry for her loss. She will definitely be remembered fondly xoxo

When me and Terry Baker were married we lived a few houses down from candy and I would go to her house and hang out with her and she would always be smiling and she would make me laugh all the time and she would always take up for me about everything. I haven't seen her in very many years but I always remember her and what a kind person she was. I'm so sorry for the loss and I pray for comfort to the family and friends. I miss you Candy, God truly recieved another angel.

Candy you were always the life of the party you have a way to make people laugh. You always had a great sense of humor and were obnoxious sometimes, but we wouldn't want you to be any other way. RIP Candy..
