Born on July 9, 1933, in Council, Virginia, Cansada was the daughter of Luther and Ida Johnson, who preceded her in death. She spent her early years sharing laughter and adventure with her many siblings and exploring the beautiful mountains of Virginia.
Cansada was married to the love of her life, the late Garland Wilson. Together, they built a family rooted in love and faith. She was the proud mother of three children: Debbie Greear, Diane Wilson, and the late Pete Wilson. She also held close in her heart the memory of her two infant daughters, Jennifer Lynn and Linda Sue.
Cansada had many siblings, most of whom have preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister Geneva Mitchell and her brother Aaron Johnson.
She was known for her quick wit and playful sense of humor, always ready with a joke or a sly comment that brought a smile to those around her. Her feisty spirit and sharp mind kept everyone on their toes, and she never missed a chance to lighten the mood with laughter. Cansada enjoyed life’s simple pleasures—telling stories, sipping on a cold Pepsi, playing rummy (winning most of the games she played), and spending time with her beloved grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart, including Justin Greear, Jason Greear, Steven Daugherty, Missy Doak, Rachel Wilson, and Shannon Sullivan. She was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
A woman of deep faith, Cansada loved the Lord with all her heart. Her relationship with God was the foundation of her life, guiding her actions, words, and the love she shared with others. Her generosity knew no bounds as she was always ready to lend a helping hand, whether it was by donating to numerous causes throughout her life or supporting those in need around her. She touched countless lives with her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love for others.
