

On January 3, 2026, Carl went home to claim his mansion that Jesus had gone to prepare for him in Heaven. He was 90 years of age, born February 27, 1935, to the late William and Katie Shiveley of Stout, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Billie, to whom he had been married for 69 years, sisters Wilma Stevenson and Helen Shupert, brothers, Robert, Gene, and David.
Carl is survived by 2 daughters, Beverly Mountjoy (Jon), of Reesville, Ohio, Kimberly Blankenship Fritz (Larry) of West Carrollton, Ohio 1 son, Carl Jr. (Maryjane) of Lafollette, Tennessee, 3 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren 2 step-great-great-grandchildren.
He was employed in the screw machine department at NCR for nineteen years, then retired from Amco Products Division of First Tool Corp. after forty-five years of service with them. Carl enjoyed playing and singing bluegrass gospel music. He had been a member of various gospel groups in his younger years but for the more recent forty-five years he played and sang with his family group, “The Shiveley Family.”
Over the years Carl played a number of different instruments but was most recognized as playing the banjo. He attended The Northridge Freewill Baptist Church when not singing in other churches.
Visitation will be at The Northridge Freewill Baptist Church 4800 Payne Avenue Dayton, Ohio from 10 am to 12 pm on Monday, January 12, 2026. The funeral will be at the same location with Rev. Steve Nickels officiating and will begin at 12 pm.
Interment, Valley View Memorial Gardens.
