Cecelia Valerian Kern

KERN, Cecelia Valerian, age 91 of Dayton, passed away Monday, February 8, 2016. She was born in Springfield, Kentucky November 4, 1924. She moved to Dayton, Ohio in the 1940s and worked at WPAFB. Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Gladys Smith, brother James P. Smith and sisters Marion Harden and Emma Lee Mattingly. She was married for 46 years to Harrison B. Kern until his death in May 1994. They had four children, Kathy (Rick) Welfare, Harrison B. Kern, Jr., Lisa (Tim) Nauman and Kit (Tony) Yannone. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Heather (Doug) Slacker, Jeremy (Becky) Welfare, Libby (Tim) Buckley, Haley, Corrine, Molly Kern, Joe, Craig, Megan, Macy Nauman, Tessa, Erin, Brian Yannone; great grandchildren, Aaron, Taylor and Devon; Kayela, Kyle, Brody, Brooklyn and Blake; Jack and Avery; Cam; Raelyn, Audrey and Greyson; and her sister in law Lois Haber. Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 15, 2016 at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME - FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45429.
