BROWN, Charles F., age 87,of Centerville, passed away suddenly Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Bethany Village. He was born December 11, 1925 in Capac, Michigan to the late Francis and Hilda Brown. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Carolyn; brother, Arnold Brown; and grandson, Keefe Taylor Brown. He is survived by daughter Amy (Anthony)Kemnic; sons Stephen (Gala)Brown and Thomas(Cheryl)Brown, grandchildren Patrick(Claire)Kemnic, Amanda Kemnic, Shannon (Patrick)Kirkwood, Kevin Brown, and Jessica Brown; great-grandsons Dillan and Teddy Kemnic; and several nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and University of Michigan, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He served as an officer in the United States Navy aboard the USS Tennessee, and in later years, was an enthusiastic volunteer at the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio. He retired twice—first from CMS Energy in Michigan, where he retired as Vice President, Customer Service and Marketing, and again from Providence Gas Co. in Rhode Island, where he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operation Officer. He also sat on many boards of directors throughout his life, and participated in many civic organizations across the states of Michigan, Rhode Island and Ohio. Funeral service 2:00 PM Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Fairmont Presbyterian Church 3705 Far Hills Ave. Kettering, Ohio 45429; with the Rev. Denise W. Weaver and the Rev. David Hoffelt officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at 1:45 PM Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, Ohio.
