Charles Martin Galbraith Jr.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles M Galbraith JR, 83, on September 4, 2026. Charles was born on February 3, 1943, in Rahway, New Jersey, to Charles and Madeline Galbraith.

Charles proudly served four years in the United States Army, including service during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart and medically retired at the rank of Captain.

He continued his education after his military service, earning an M.B.A. from Monmouth University. Charles went on to build a successful career in accounting and finance, serving as a Controller for International Paper and Smurfit-Stone.

Following his retirement from the corporate world, Charles shared his knowledge and love of economics as an adjunct instructor at Cincinnati State University, Miami University of Ohio, Northern Kentucky University, and Wilmington College. He took great pride in helping students learn and prepare for their own careers.

Charles also had a passion for cars, especially his MG, and flying, earning his pilot’s license to pursue the joy and freedom that came with flying.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Lou; sister-in-law, Irene Galbraith; sons, Ian (Jennifer) Galbraith and Sean Galbraith; and three granddaughters, Abigail, Rachael, and Victoria, who brought him great joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Madeline Galbraith; his brother, Dan Galbraith; and his sister, Charlotte Galbraith.

A celebration of Charles’s life will be held on September 26, 2026. Details will be shared with family and friends when arrangements are finalized.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor Charles' memory to consider a donation to Wounded Warrior Family Support or Hospice of Dayton.
