

MORT, Charles B., age 84 of Centerville, passed away Friday, September 9, 2011 at Southview Hospital. Charles was born on April 4, 1927 in Dayton to Bernard W. and Bonnie D. (Collins) Mort. He was a 1945 graduate of Vandalia Butler High School and a 1951 graduate of the University of Dayton with a BME. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. Charles was preceded in death by parents and his first wife, Betty J. (Boyer) Mort. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte L. (Long) Mort; a sister, Jan and Ace Weeks of Washington Twp.; a brother, Richard and Ann Mort of Middletown, Ohio; a son, Charles T. Mort of Maui Hawaii, a son, Barry F. and Marsha Mort of Van Buren, Ohio and their children, Andrew and Allison; son, Dr. Thomas C. and Debra Mort of Glastonbury CT and their children, Caroline, Anna, and Mary; stepson, Brian and Nipha Vaughn of Germany and their son, Andrew; stepdaughter, Leslie and Denley Thompson and their son, Tanner of Smiths AL. After graduation from U.D., Charlie worked at Frigidaire, Delco, UAP in Dayton, Hamilton Standard in CT, UAP in Forest OH, and Sundstrand in Rockford IL. His favorite hobbies were golf and woodworking. He was a former member of St. Mark’s Lodge #36 F. & A.M. in Simsbury CT.
