Charles R Poston, 86, died Monday, January 1st, 2013 of complications from heart disease. Charles, a true self-made man, lived a meaningful and inspiring life to all. He was born May 5, 1926 in Drumright, Oklahoma where he lived until moving to Tennessee as a child. At the young age of 15 years old, he set out on his own to find work in Dayton, Ohio. He met the love of his life, Mabel Hampton, and soon married her in Newport, Kentucky on July 20th of 1945. They had a caring and loving marriage for 67 years. He was a loving father and generous man who appreciated and guided his children. Charles was an owner and creator of the Dayton Hasty Tasty chain of Restaurants, The Char-Burger chain of Restaurants, The Fireplace Inn on Woodman Ave., and The Cattleman off route 35. He loved his work and was generous to his employees. He worked hard at his craft to please the public. He always thought of what others needed and helped when he could. He gave much to many and will be missed by the people who touched his life. He is survived by his wife, Mabel; his brothers, Raymond Poston and Gene and Carol Poston; his children, Sharlene and Vincent Barrington, Rick and Linda Poston, Barbara and Michael Culbertson, and Tina and Keith Scheidler; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Nicholas Poston, Amanda Poston and Chad Stocker, Natalie Poston, Michael and Amber Harris, Matthew, Asher and Moriah LaCour, Melanie Scheidler, Adam Scheidler, Emma and Molly Stocker-Poston, Billy Cook, Vincent Barrington, Diane Barrington and numerous other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by brothers, Robert, Paul, and Roy Poston; his sister, Rose Master; his mother, Susan; and father, Earnest. Charles was a member of Hawker United Church of Christ, of the St. John Lodge F&AM and was a 32nd degree with the Valley of Dayton. Most of all the family would like to give a big thank you to Hospice of Dayton for their care, love and time. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2012 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME – BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL with Pastor Robert Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Park Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Dayton.
