Charlotte Jean York

York, Charlotte Jean, age 87, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017. She was born to May and John Ertle in Jersey City, NJ on November 15, 1929. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles, daughter, Patricia, son Charles Jr., grandson Jason G. York, great-grandson Vincent Stemple, two sisters, Dorothy McCann and Violet Ertle, and four brothers, John, George, Everett and William Ertle. She is survived by two sisters: May Grigni and Catherine Lewinski. Her children also survive her: daughters Charlene (Robert) Stemple, Elizabeth (Jeff) Petry and Jennifer (Randy) Combs, as do three sons: Thomas (Helen) York, Gene York and Christopher York, as well as her grandson, Jeffrey York, whom she adopted. Her grandchildren survive her: Robert and Benjamen Stemple, David Brooks, Andrew (Dayna) and Amanda (Casona) York, Krista York, Amie Snyder (Shannon), Brian Klein (Sarah), Jessica Bender (Jeff), Leandra and Jamey Petry , Miranda (Jace) and Ryan Combs, Jeffrey York (Lilo), as do her great-grandchildren: Aura Stemple, Kyle Stemple (Tori), Damien Stemple, Jarrett Brooks, Isabella Brooks, Sophia Brooks, Eliana York, Logan Greer, Baby Abner, Kylie Huffman, Jaylyn York, Mikayla and Boston Snyder, Ava and Jacob Bender, Elijah Lewis, Jeremiah Reed and Jayden York, and great-great granddaughter, Ariel Stemple. Charlotte was a graduate of Snyder High School in NJ and Sinclair Community College, and also attended Michigan State University. She worked for Prudential Insurance and taught at Head Start and Children’s World, but retired as a supervisor at Grandview Hospital. She was a longtime member of St. Helen Parish and a founding member of the Riverside Seniors. Charlotte was a Cub Scout leader for many years, did frequent volunteer work and was an avid Cincinnati Reds Fan. Friends may call at the Tobias Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. on Monday evening, February 27, 2017 from 5-8 PM and again at St. Helen Church one half-hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Helen Catholic Church, 5100 Burkhardt Rd. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 10 AM with Fr, Satish Joseph, Celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
