Cindy Lynn Vanover age 67, passed away on July 27, 2026, at Kettering Memorial Hospital’s Main Campus. She was born in Dayton, Ohio at Miami Valley Hospital on July 17, 1959, to parents Richard Grimshaw and Charlene (Mefford) Kapeller.
Surviving Cindy is her son, John Michael Vanover; mother, Charlene Kapeller, father, Richard Grimshaw; sister, Barb (Paul) Likovetz; brother, Rich Grimshaw; Niece, Brittany (Tommy) Young; nephew, Thomas Likovetz; great nieces and nephews, Parker, Emery, Knox, Maisyn and Scottie Young; and many loving cousins, aunts, uncles and other extended family members. Preceding Cindy in death was her stepfather, Don Kapeller.
In 1978 Cindy graduated from Fairmont West High School in Kettering, Ohio. Her hobbies included softball, field hockey, basketball, fishing, Ohio State football, the Bengals, gardening, estate sales and attending the local festivals. Her employment over the years included Borden Dairy Ice Cream, McDonald’s, Monarch Marketing, Value City, Kettering Memorial Hospital-main campus and Avery Dennison.
Cindy was most known for being a huge Ohio State fan, always saying, “O-H!” Also known for being a softball player, spending time in her garden and cutting grass; hopping from garage sales to estate sales. She was a “softie” at heart, but direct and straight to the point. She had a passionate love for hummingbirds and a good nap in her recliner with a crisp Pepsi always in her hand.
Cindy will be greatly missed by all who knew her and enjoyed her enthusiasm for life.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Tobias Funeral Home - Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45429, on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by a memorial service at 7:00 pm at the same location.
