Byrd, Clarence Elwood, 91, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Hospice of Dayton. He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Gusteen Byrd; grandson Christopher Byrd; brothers Albert Byrd Jr, Brice Byrd and Marion Byrd; sisters Lorene Madison, Rhoda Martin and Ollie Oldham. He is survived by his sons Randy Byrd and wife Christiana, Jeffrey Byrd and wife Diana; grandchildren Alexandria Byrd (fiance’ Brian Ferrall), Harmony Thoma and husband Marc; great-granddaughter Ava Biesot; brothers Millard Byrd and Hobert Byrd; sister Ida Smith. Clarence was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War; a member of the American Legion; retired truck driver from Duff Trucking Lines; member of the Teamsters Union Local 957; he was an avid fan of any car racing, but particularly enjoyed NASCAR. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially attending his grandchildren’s sports events. Family will receive friends from 10 AM- 11:30 AM Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd at Grange Hall Rd. Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
