Spraley, Jr., Clement Francis “Bud”, age 92, passed away May 9, 2018. Bud attended St. Agnes grade school and graduated from Chaminade High School in 1944. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Dayton in 1950 and an MBA from Xavier University in 1965. He retired from Monsanto in 1985 after 25 years as a Senior Contract Administrator. In addition to his career with Monsanto he was an entrepreneur, founding Skyline Drive-In and Pizza House on South Dixie Dr. Bud served his country in the Army Air Corps as a gunner on the “Flying Fortress” B-17. He was a proud member of American Legion Post 528 in Kettering, OH. Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth A. (Gulyas) Spraley; son, William T. Spraley; parents, Clement F. Spraley Sr. and Irene (Hochwalt) Spraley; brother, LeRoy Spraley; and sister, Mary Louise (Spraley) Heiskel. He is survived by children, Diane (Spraley) Provenza (Salvatore J.), Frances (Spraley) Najar (George), Stephen Spraley, David Spraley (Diane), and George Spraley; grandchildren, Salvatore J. Provenza, Jr. (Sloane), Elena Gur (Avi), Alicia Smith (Austin), Dominic Provenza, Adrienne Fletcher (Benjamin), Jeanette Plamp (Jason), Mathew Spraley and Michael Spraley; Great Grandchildren, Sydney and Elizabeth Provenza, Gabriella Gur, Madeline, Everett and Wyatt Smith, Henry and Charlie Fletcher, August and Felicity Plamp; twin sister, Sr. Mary Irene, SND, sister, Norma Jean Roberts and brother, Thomas Spraley. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 23rd from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Church of the Incarnation, 7415 Far Hills Ave. in Centerville. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to: Dayton VA Hospice Victory Ridge Unit or to St. Vincent de Paul of Dayton. I was saddened to learn of Bud's passing. As the past President, of Xavier University's Alumni Chapter in Dayton, I was so grateful for Bud's interest in, support of and attendance at our planned functions. My prayers and sympathy are with his family at this difficult time.
