

AUTIO, Clyde Fred, Age 85, of Springboro, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2017. He was born on July 25, 1931 in Lead, South Dakota. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force and later worked as an aeronautical engineer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He continued working in the United States Air Force Reserves and retired as a Major General. He was awarded the Airman’s Medal in 1961. He was past president of the National Aviation Hall of Fame and also served on the Greene County Board of Mental Health. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed family vacations to Disney World and Hilton Head. He also enjoyed making videos of family trips and events. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Jean (Ebert) Autio, his parents, Andrew William and Arlene (Barber) Autio, and his brother Andrew William Autio Jr. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Darrell and Doris Autio of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, daughter and son-in-law Kim and Steve Halula of Mequon Wisconsin, his son, Kerry Autio of Springboro, Ohio, seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Christian, and Rachel Autio, and Carey and Jamie Halula and Shea and Kristen Halula, and five great grandchildren, Lilly, Bennett, Maia, Gavin and Liam Halula. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Emmanuel Baptist Church of Bellbrook, Ohio. Services will follow at 11:00 A.M. at the church. Burial will be at the Dayton National Cemetery at 1:00 P.M. A reception will follow the burial.
