Cora accepted Jesus as her Savior at Emmanuel Bible Camp operated by missionaries Carl and Wilma Wahlstedt.
It was at an annual June Memorial meeting on Nan Riley Cemetery where Cora met the love of her life, Virgil. They were married for 41 years until his passing.
Virgil and Cora moved to Dayton, Ohio and began their family of three children, Vernon, Ronnie Ray, and Ruth Ann. Cora was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her faith, kindness, and steady presence.
Cora loved being a member of her church and faithfully attended services. She especially enjoyed caring for the toddlers and babies and served in the two year old class and nursery for many years. She worked and retired from Karolton Envelope in 1992.
She took great pleasure in exercising, walking in her neighborhood, participating in a 5K Volksmarch Club, going to lunch with longtime friends, reading her Bible, and playing with her grandchildren. She took joy in preparing home-cooked meals for her family. She contributed to multiple causes selflessly like the Community Blood Center and wherever she saw a need.
In addition to her parents, Cora is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil, son Vernon, siblings, Nancy, Martha, Tilman, Clarence, Thomas Francis, Sylvester, Ellison, Amanda Ellen, Mary Elizabeth, and Issac.
Cora is survived by Ronnie Ray Swafford (Corinna Ruth), Ruth Ann Thomas (Bill), daughter-in-law Jocelyn Swafford, sister Deloris Martin, brother Ezra Barnes, sister-in-law Barbara Swafford, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her 7 loving grandchildren, Jonathan, James, Connor, Natalie Oksana, Matthew, Joshua, and Serenity. 5 great grandchildren, Samantha, Ashley, Lauren, Roland, and Remington.
