Born on September 24, 1963, in Troy, Ohio, Duke was a man known for his generous spirit, warm smile, and ability to make friends wherever he went. He truly never met a stranger.
Duke proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as an Airman First Class (A1C) during Operation Desert Shield. Following his military service, he worked as a fuels specialist for Wright Brothers Aero in Vandalia before transitioning into heavy machinery rigging. He eventually found his true passion working in maintenance, where his skill, dedication, and strong work ethic were appreciated by all who knew him.
Beyond his career, Duke was happiest when helping others. Whether mowing lawns, picking up prescriptions, or simply sitting and talking with elderly neighbors, he was always willing to lend a hand or share a conversation. His kindness and compassion touched countless lives throughout his community.
Duke was also known for his wonderful sense of humor, infectious laugh, and unforgettable smile. Above all else, he cherished the life he built with his soulmate and beloved wife of 26 years, Angie. Together they weathered hardships and losses, but their greatest joys were found in their love for one another, shared laughter, and travels to the beach. The life they created together was Duke's proudest accomplishment.
A lifelong and devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns, Duke faithfully cheered for his team through every season, celebrating the victories and enduring the heartbreaks with unwavering loyalty.
A devoted animal lover, Duke treasured the cats that shared his home and heart, especially his beloved Sparky. The bond they shared was unmistakable, and Sparky was rarely far from his side.
He is survived by his loving wife, Angie Armstrong; brother, Don Hoops (Joanne); sister, Ginger Spaugy; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness and friendship.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herb Armstrong; his mother, Altheda O'Rissie Webb-Picket; and his brother, Herbie Armstrong.
