Curtis Franklin Hill, 92, died Tues., Dec. 7th 2021 in Beavercreek, Ohio after a long and very full life. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Louise Hill (mother of his daughters Elaine and Jeanette); and his brothers Ervan, Robert, Myron, Lowell, Conrad, and Max. He is survived by his second wife Joan Flaute-Hill; his daughters Elaine Miller and Jeanette Hill; his granddaughters Hannah Schick and Leah Miller; his step-children Susan Robinson, Diane Iannarino, Karen Timmer, Robert Flaute, Thomas Flaute, Michael Flaute, and 12 step-grandchildren and 11 step-great grandchildren who loved him dearly; and his loving sisters Madlyn Willis, Caroline Hill, Betty Farley, and Linda Harris and his devoted cousin Barbara Barnet. Curt was born in Cutler, Ohio, the son of Clyde and Nancy Hill, and one of 11 children. He left home to strike out on his own while still in his teens and joined the Air Force when he was 17, where he served for 22 years, earning several commendations and awards, and traveling the world. He was stationed at bases in places such as Alaska, Ohio, Mississippi, Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, and Japan. While Curt was stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH, he met and married his first wife (Mary) Louise Hill, and they were devoted partners in all their travels and adventures for over 30 years and had two daughters, Elaine and Jeanette. Curt retired from the Air Force after 22 years of service, and then took a job that sent the family to Texas and Australia before deciding to move to and settle in the Dayton area to be closer to his family in Ohio. He joined civil service, working at DESC until he retired after the death of his wife Louise. Six years later, Curt met his second wife, Joan Flaute at a square-dancing club, and they shared a rich life together for 29 years, traveling to Hawaii, and many US states together. They square danced for 20 years with their clubs and many friends. They also enjoyed many years of Bible study together at St Francis Church. He also loved playing his ukulele and singing for his grandchildren and friends. Curt was first and foremost a family man, enjoying his family and keeping in touch with his many friends. He loved spoiling his granddaughters, Hannah and Leah, and they loved being with him and always knew he loved them very much. He loved being outdoors, raising a vegetable garden, and hunting and fishing with his brothers. He was excited to learn to fly in Australia, and he and Louise had one of their biggest and best vegetable gardens there. He also enjoyed watching baseball and old comedy shows and war movies and listening to country music. He loved children and enjoyed teaching Sunday School at his local church. He was always proud of his time in the service and entertained folks with stories about times such as when he was a young radio operator on a C-54 cargo plane, flying generals such as General Douglas MacArthur and General Curtis LeMay as part of their mission. He loved God, he loved his family and friends, and he loved his country, and he showed that love all throughout his life. He was greatly loved, and he will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held at 10 am, followed by the funeral service at 11 am on Friday, Dec. 10th at Tobias Funeral Home at 5471 Far Hills Ave., Dayton, OH 45429. No flowers, please.
