Aged 63, of Beavercreek, passed away August 8, releasing her from years of medical issues and complications. Born in 1959 to Esther and Francis Sigmond. Cindi married her sweetheart Glenn G. Van Ausdal in December 1977. Mother of three sons and daughters-in-law, Jared (Cortney Hall) of Dayton, Brandon (Cortney Hudak) of Manheim, PA, and Michael (Melissa Vorenberg) of Denver, CO. Grandmother to Reese and Jack (born days after her death) who made her ecstatically happy the last few months. “Special” mother to Ben, Jessie, and Max Van Ausdal, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. Sister to Ruby Bozarth and George Boggs, and their spouses, both who proceeded her in death. She loved that as an adult, she was able to find George and his wife Lori, and to know and love his daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as her sister’s children and their families.. Special “Sister” to Brenda Lambros (Sam) who grew up together, from the age of two, at “Grandma” Williams house across the street from Cindi’s Northridge home. Cindi loved Brenda’s daughters Andrea and Samantha as her own, along with their children.
Besides her parents and siblings mentioned earlier, Cindi was preceded by her close cousins Tom and Vivian “Elaine” Rinehart, whose children and grandchildren she loved dearly, and by her niece Tina Willhoite. Also, by Gerald and Vivian Van Ausdal whose welcoming love helped her in her recovery from her traumas, and whose support during nursing and grad school allowed her to take care of her family throughout the rest of her life.
Cindi attended Northridge schools, graduating in 1977, and “scandalously” six months later married her Physics teacher. She said she spent the rest of her life getting even for the “C” that ruined her GPA. After some years of child rearing, and working with Glenn in a business, she courageously started attending nursing school at WSU earning a BSN twenty years to the day after graduating from high school. After passing her boards, she immediately started on her MSN in Psychiatric Nursing at UC, graduating in December 1999.
Starting her nursing career at Miami Valley Hospital in the in-patient Psychiatric floor, she developed and ran the “Bridge Program” to follow clients who were discharged until their follow-up appointments started with community mental health agencies. She later started a supervisory position at Day-Mount Community Mental Health Center in Dayton. She moved on the TCN centers in Greene County as an Advanced Practice Nurse. Her final position was at South Community, as Director of Medical Services as the non-clinical director of the department, and as an Advanced Practice Nurse. In May of 2014, Cindi became totally disabled due to serious spinal failures, resulting in multiple back surgeries and continuous pain for the rest of her life.
All her know her remember her as a loving and caring soul, who would always do as much as she could for others, even as she was struggling herself. She was a very effective psych nurse, partially because she had been through many of the same traumas and addictions as her clients. She was able to relate to each person’s struggles and to model “hope” for a brighter future for all who knew her.
Primarily due to the recent births of her grandchildren, no services will be held at the present time. A memorial service will be announced in the future.
