Dale W. Blewett, of Centerville, OH, died December 4, 2023. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on February 20, 1943. He married his life long love, Joanne and had 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.
Laughter and love was Dale’s greatest gift. He accepted people as they are. Always encouraging them to become better versions of themselves. Dale found humor in all sorts of situations. Making people smile and laugh was a lifelong goal. He loved jokes so much he even published his own “Daley Humor” book to share with others. He was the “fun” dad, grandpa and uncle. Dale was ALWAYS up for a game, an outing or even a prank or joke.
Dale was family focused. His and his wife, Joanne’s, goal was to have their children be good people. Being thoughtful in decisions, slow to judgment, and quick to laugh was how they raised their children. Being willing to try a new project, whether it was fixing up a first car or replacing a toilet, was the goal. Ever the advisor, he never offered an opinion until asked for and then, once a decision was made, he would not second guess it.
Another joy was cars, he had over 60 cars in his lifetime, both ordinary and extraordinary. Dale enjoyed taking a “well-used” car and putting his time, effort and love into it and making it something of useful beauty. License plates were a natural extension of his love of cars. Many fond memories are had by his children of going to license plate meets. He served as president of ALPCA (Automobile License Plate Collectors Association) and even designed the logo.
As of 2020, Dale had walked 12,000 miles with his Dalmatians. As a very active man, he typically walked 3-4 miles every day with his dogs at Camp Dennison in Cincinnati. There he enjoyed nature..
He will be missed by all who knew him! When you think of him, help another, do a good deed or tell a joke in his honor.
A visitation will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Central Presbyterian Church 4699 Lamme Road Dayton, OH 45439. A service will follow starting at 11:00am.
