Daniel Rosner of Beavercreek, Ohio, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 5, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 75 years old. Dan’s life was marked by devotion - to his family, his community, and the many passions that brought him joy.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, to Elena and Aaron Rosner, Dan grew up in a close-knit family that nurtured his love for sports and learning. He attended Belle Haven and Gettysburg Elementary Schools and graduated from Meadowdale High School in 1968, where he was a proud member of the basketball and baseball teams. His athletic spirit was boundless - If a ball was bouncing, Dan was ready to play.
Dan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The Ohio State University in 1972. He was an avid reader, fond of historical fiction, and his education never ended. A lifelong Buckeye and Cleveland Browns fan, his enthusiasm for his teams was contagious and his mood often reflected the scoreboard.
In 1976, Dan married the love of his life, Patti Zawisa. Their marriage was a testament to unconditional love and partnership. Together, they raised three children: Leah, Tracy, and Michael - and were blessed with ten grandchildren. Dan’s greatest joy was found in his role as a father and grandfather, coaching teams, attending countless games, and offering steady encouragement and wisdom with a listening ear and a full heart.
Dan ended his 30 year career at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as a contracting supervisor. Following in his father’s footsteps, he took great pride in serving his country through his work. After retiring, he embraced his love of nature by hiking local parks and honing his skills in wood carving. His handcrafted walking sticks, each topped with a carved animal head, became treasured keepsakes for friends and family.
Throughout his life, Dan cultivated deep and lasting friendships - sharing annual trips to Las Vegas with high school friends, visiting college buddies, enjoying softball games with the Sierra Deltas, golfing, playing cards, and keeping in touch with work colleagues. Known for his generosity and kindness, he supported numerous charities and never hesitated to help someone in need.
Even in the face of illness, Dan remained active and engaged - hiking trails, attending his grandchildren’s events, woodworking, traveling, and tackling house projects with grace and determination. He was truly one of a kind.
Dan is survived by his wife, Patti (née Zawisa) Rosner; his children, Leah Hobday (Ryan), Tracy Draper (William Schultz), and Michael Rosner (Jennifer); his ten grandchildren - Brady, Ryan, Avery, Hanna, Noah, Scarlett, Ian, Jackson, Dominic, and Flynn; his mother, Elena (née Spizzichino) Rosner; his sisters Sandra Rosner (Jeff Haas) and Paula Novetsky (Jay). He was preceded in death by his father, Aaron H Rosner.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 5:00 PM at Cox Arboretum, 6733 Springboro Pike, Dayton, Ohio 45449.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a local charity of your choice in his honor.
Dan’s legacy lives on in the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the memories he created. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
