Danielle used to go a lot of places with me and of course was always happy to help with shopping. I took her to church weekly if possible on either Thursday or Saturday nights at Cedar Creek Church here in Toledo. Danielle loved getting her free hot chocolate and the worship music! She would really get into it, stomping her feet, clapping, waving, shaking her head side to side and of course singing whatever words she could gather as she listened. It was full band music and fairly loud so it was nice that anyone could feel free to just be themselves but of course she felt that freedom regardless. It was a joy to do that with her and as many times as I took her to church we always managed to get through it without her ever getting anyone’s hair...besides me just one time! I appreciated her love for music and at home the classic Shania songs were her go to of course. A close second was Toby Keith. She’d nearly say to me daily, “hey Jessica, i need help. I want to sing itchiacowboy” . It always made me chuckle a little because it sounded like she was saying “itchy cowboy” but I knew she meant, “I Shoulda Been a Cowboy”. That song and really any Shania song, always reminds me of her. She would dance and sing as loud as she wanted everyday in her room until she felt ready to do something else. At one point I got her to branch out a little and listen to 90’s Alan Jackson hits and Garth Brooks. I think she had a good amount of 90’s country hits memorized. Every night she would say her prayers and I would listen to her thank God for her mom and dad, brothers, grandparents and there were a few names she’d say that I could never make out. Prayer was part of her routine. I am truly thankful to God for Dani’s life and the time I was privileged to care for her. God used her to teach me in a greater way than I previously knew, His great love for us. Her life has forever made it’s mark on mine and I will miss her. I hope these little stories bless you, her loving family.
