BARR, David Ross, was born August 21, 1932 in Madison Wisconsin to Glenn and Marcelle Barr. The family lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Montevideo, Uruguay; and Oxford, Ohio. He graduated from Oxford McGuffey High School in 1950. He then attended Miami University in Oxford, graduating with a BA, MA, and later a MS degree. He also received his PhD in mathematics in February 1964 from the University of Iowa. He went on active duty with the Air Force in June 1955. He met and married Mary Catron while at Eglin AFB in 1957. He taught at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and then at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) at Wright Patterson until his retirement in 1997. Upon retirement he became a Mason and became very active holding many officer positions. He loved animals, old fashioned New Orleans jazz, and bad puns. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, George and Charlett Barr of Katy, Texas; daughter Ann Barr of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren Cathy (Barr) and John Larson of Summit, New Jersey and Carolyn Barr of Atlanta, Georgia; and great grandson Maxwell Larson. His wife preceded him in death in 2001. A memorial service with a Masonic funeral service will be held at a later time. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
