BARR, David Ross, was born August 21, 1932 in Madison Wisconsin to Glenn and Marcelle Barr. The family lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Montevideo, Uruguay; and Oxford, Ohio. He graduated from Oxford McGuffey High School in 1950. He then attended Miami University in Oxford, graduating with a BA, MA, and later a MS degree. He also received his PhD in mathematics in February 1964 from the University of Iowa. He went on active duty with the Air Force in June 1955. He met and married Mary Catron while at Eglin AFB in 1957. He taught at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and then at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) at Wright Patterson until his retirement in 1997. Upon retirement he became a Mason and became very active holding many officer positions. He loved animals, old fashioned New Orleans jazz, and bad puns. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, George and Charlett Barr of Katy, Texas; daughter Ann Barr of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren Cathy (Barr) and John Larson of Summit, New Jersey and Carolyn Barr of Atlanta, Georgia; and great grandson Maxwell Larson. His wife preceded him in death in 2001. A memorial service with a Masonic funeral service will be held at a later time. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

George and Ann

I was sad to learn of your father's passing. I have very fond memories of the time that our families spent together in Kettering. I also remember your father's strong intellectual curiosity.

Your families will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Am very sorry to hear of his passing. He was one of my favorite professors during my years at AFIT. I doubled up on stats classes just so i could enjoy his stories and bad puns. He will be missed!

Ann,so sorry to hear about Dr Barr's enjoyed him while working at AFIT, and was delighted to work with you via Nyack College. Your dad always entertained us at Christmas by playing songs in each office. He was a joy. God bless and comfort you.

I recall meeting Dr, Barr once while I was at Miami University with his daughter and one of my most important friends, Anni. The good doctor was a truly jovial and witty man. Peace and rest in the arms of the Saviour.
