David M. Kirkwood

KIRKWOOD, David M. age 85 of Riverside, had his faith become sight on Tuesday, February 28, 2012. David graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and attended Harvard University for post-graduate study. He became a registered architect in 1957. During his career he worked on commercial projects, churches, residential remodeling and was the project director for the Good Samaritan Hospital’s Seton Tower. David joined Spinning Road Baptist Church in 1963. He became involved in the music ministry, was a song leader and sang in the choir, was a longtime member of the Board of Trustees and was a beloved member of the church. David also enjoyed being a lifelong, avid sailor. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, John Kirkwood. He is survived by his faithful wife of 59 years, Carolyn Kirkwood; 2 daughters, Laura (Mark) McPeek of Newark, OH and Molly (Chuck) Westrick of Richmond, KY; grandchildren, Katherine (Brad) Russell, Meredith Westrick, Jennifer McPeek and Benjamin Westrick; sister, Geraldine Stiles of Monroe, NC; brothers, Kent (Donna) Kirkwood and Edward Kirkwood, both of Chillicothe, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Spinning Road Baptist Church, 538 Spinning Rd., Riverside, OH 45431. Pastor Scott Goodman and Pastor Paul Hatmacher officiating. His family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Friday, March 2, 2012 at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME – BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall.
