Debbie Heckman-Morgan, age 65, of Dayton, Ohio was called home to the Lord on Friday, April 24, 2020. Born on September 27, 1954 in Tampa, Florida to Frank and Geraldine Nicholas, Debbie was a beacon of warmth, kindness and humility. Her gentle spirit, empathetic heart, and her nurturing and loving nature are among the many reasons she changed each and every life she touched and among the countless reasons she will be missed beyond measure.
There is only one thing greater than this feeling of loss; and that is the feeling of comfort. Comfort in knowing that Debbie’s journey has taken her home, welcomed by the embrace of her father Frank Nicholas; and at last, finally reunited with her first husband Kenneth Heckman to celebrate Love and the incredible family they created.
While Debbie may no longer be with us physically, her life and her love will forever be remembered. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, Loving Mother- Geraldine Nicholas and Husband, Jack Morgan. Her Beloved Children- Christie (Kevin) Heckman Skrlac, Brian (Jenni) Heckman, Keith (Jenny) Heckman and Step-Daughters- Apryl (Paul) Van Oss, Crystal (Mike) Hill, and Jackie (Jeff) Lawless. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and her love for them is irreplaceable. One can only hope she knew how deeply each of these kids love their Granny- yesterday, today and always- Kyle, Kendra, Camryn, Addison, Sydney, Lane, Sarah, Lauren, Josh, Chase, Sam, Joey, George and Vinnie.
Last but never least, Debbie will also forever be loved and missed by her beautiful sisters- Penny (Jim) Caudill and April (Brant) Norris, both of Somerset, KY; as well as, Charles Hughes and several nieces and nephews. Debbie was the kind of ‘loyal’ and ‘honest’ you can only pray you find in at least one person in your life; at some point in your life. She defined what being a true friend is all about and attributed much of it to her close relationship with her sisters and her mom. She listened closely, cared whole heartedly and welcomed anyone into the family she adored more than life itself.
Debbie was well versed and well read, she was creative and crafty, and while she had a delicate and quiet nature, she was surprisingly adventurous and had no problem jumping on the back of snow mobile or motorcycle. She was a fixer, healer, baby whisperer and a phenomenal cook, her macaroni and cheese will be talked about for generations to come. She loved the outdoors and the indoors…so long as she was with the people she loved, you could count her in. She was passionate and strong, fighting tirelessly to live again, loudly and freely, until her very last breath. Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mom, Granny, Cousin, and Friend…she is forever loved and will be eternally missed.
