Don is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Debbie and their children, Melissa (Chris) and Neil (Zoe). He was a devoted and loving grandfather to Aayden, Nolan, and Max who will dearly miss him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Wilda, and his daughter Olivia.
He was born in Youngstown, Ohio to Richard and Wilda Greier. Don graduated from Fitch High School before studying Mechanical Engineering at Youngstown State. He then made the move to Dayton, Ohio where he started working for BF Goodrich. Working for other engineering companies in the mix before he landed at Kadant Black Clawson where he ended his career as their Senior Chief Engineer.
A mechanical engineer by trade, Don possessed an insatiable drive to understand how everything worked. He attacked every project and problem with a fierce need for complete information. Whenever someone had a question, he either knew the answer or dedicated himself to researching it until he did. Always bringing a calm demeanor to any situation, you could count on him to always have a solution for any problem with a very MacGyver mindset.
Don took the greatest pride in his family. He was always up for any type of game and valued every moment spent together. His happiest times were the simplest ones: dinners on the patio, walks to the park or just simply hanging out always having music playing. From coaching youth sports when his children were young to attending events for his grandchildren, his love and support were unconditional.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Monday, July 6, 2026 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Tobias Funeral Home at 5471 Far Hills Ave, Dayton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to St. Vincent DePaul https://stvincentdayton.org/
