Carlene was born on October 22, 1929 in Sidney Ohio. Her parents were Frank E. and Lucille Weingartner Miller. She is preceded in death by her parents, her two daughters Leslie Ann Stricker (Jeff) and Amy Lee Prether, her three sisters Betty Taylor, Marilyn Kimmerle, and Ruth Evelyn Miller Snively, nephew Gary Whiteman, and her ex-husband Lester Prether. She is survived by her son-in-law Jeff Stricker, her three grandchildren Joshua Lysle Stricker (Kelly), Matthew Jacob Stricker, and Rebecca Lucille Stricker, her two nephews Lloyd Snively (Rhonda), and Jay Snively (Ann), and two nieces Anne Whiteman and Mary Ann Snively.
Carlene was an intelligent, kind woman who lived independently. She worked for Dayton Human Resources helping many clients in need for a number of years, and after retirement volunteered at Hospice of Dayton. She was very strong up to her recent health challenges, able to drive, fix her own meals, and clean up around her home and yard. She would join her family for frequent gatherings and loved to talk proudly about her children and grandchildren. She kept a close relationship with several friends, even going back to her childhood years. She loved to learn, taking various history, social sciences, and faith-based classes with her friends in the Centerville-Washington Township area. She is now in the joyful embrace of our Savior and Lord, in union with her sisters and most dearly loved daughters.
The family will be holding private services on a future date. They would be grateful to hear from her neighbors and friends if they wish to share fond memories of this dear woman on her website at www.tobias-funeral.com. Donations would be greatly appreciated in her name to Hospice of Dayton, a jewel for those who live in the Dayton area.
