

A real lady in every sense of the word, Mrs. Gifford was preceded in death by her parents, Paul B. and Helen B. Budai; her sister, Margaret Ann Abel; and her brother, Paul B. Budai, Jr. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on April 4,1922, graduated from Steele High School, and attended Miami University, Oxford, Ohio where she was initiated into the Delta Gamma Fraternity of Miami's Alpha Omicron chapter in 1941. While working at Frigidaire in Dayton, she met Lurton “Giff” Gifford, whom she wedded on December 26, 1943 and with whom she shared 68 years married life until his death in 2011.
She is survived by her son (L. Andrew Gifford) and daughter-in-law (Mary Jo Gifford); grandsons (Andrew and Kevin Gifford); three great-grandchildren (Ethan, Grace and Rose Gifford); her daughter (Kathleen Beanblossom) and son-in-law (David Beanblossom); and nephews (Christopher A. and Daniel B. Abel).
Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio. Arrangements are by Alhiser-Comer Mortuary, Escondido, CA and Tobias Funeral Home, Dayton, Ohio. Donations may be made to the Delta Gamma Foundation, 3250 Riverside Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43221 whose mission is to promote service for sight. The family would be most appreciative and honored for these tribute gifts made in the name of Dorothy Budai Gifford, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, Class of 1944, in the effort of helping others see the true light and beauty in their world as she did in hers for 94 years.
