

JAMES, Douglas E., USAF Col. Ret., age 54 of Beavercreek, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018, after a battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his son Christian Douglas James, father Charles Warren James, grandmothers Pearl Sens and Olga James, grandfathers Harold James and James Harris, numerous aunts and uncles, and military brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife Pamela (Cataldo) James, children Christina James, Kacey James, Nickolas James and Tyler James, mother Paula James, sister Nancy Krzyminski, and beloved nieces and nephews. Doug was a 1982 graduate of Perkins H.S. in Sandusky. In 1986 he graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a degree in economics and in 1993 he graduated from the Air Force Institute of Technology with a masters in contract and acquisition management. Doug retired, after 25 years of duty, from the United States Air Force and went on to work in civil service as a supervisory contract specialist for the Veterans Administration. He was a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and received numerous commendations including the Bronze Star for heroic service in a combat zone. Doug was known by all to have a deep love and commitment to country and family. He was an avid outdoorsman and sports fan who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and his beloved Dallas Cowboys. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Tobias Funeral Home, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall Rd. with interment to follow at Dayton National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 pm – 8 pm on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. In lieu of flowers you may donate in honor of Douglas to National Cancer Society, P.O.
