

Wightman, Edgar (Ed) R., age 85 of Washington Township, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012 at Brighton Gardens. He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Blanch Wightman, a brother William Wightman, and a sister Helen Stone. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Shirley (Kaericher) of Washington Township; a son Bruce of Kettering; 2 daughters Diana Wightman and Linda Roll both of Newark, OH; grandchildren, J.D. Roll, Stephanie (Roll) and Brent Hurst; great granddaughter, Charlotte Hurst; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a machinist millwright for 31 years with the Ford Motor Co in Sharonville OH, was a resident of Centerville-Washington Township for over 50 years, and was a longtime member of the Centerville Band Boosters. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the USS FDR and attended many of the FDR ships reunions. Ed was a member of the Masonic lodge both in Clinton, Iowa and Dayton. He was a member of Alpha Lodge #729 F&AM, Antioch Shrine Temple where he was a member of the Oriental Band for over 50 years, and the Antioch Seniors. He was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church, where he formerly served as a Deacon. He was also very proud to have served as a van driver for The Shriners Childrens Hospitals, having logged over 15,000 miles of service. Funeral Services will be 12 noon Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave at Rahn Rd. Interment will be at David’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 am until 12 noon at the funeral home preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Shriners Childrens Hospital, 107 E.
