

COPE, Edward A. (Lt. Col, USAF, Ret) of Dayton, passed away peacefully May 4, 2013 at Hospice of Dayton following a battle with cancer. He was born to Alonzo and Margaret Cope on January 17, 1933 in Brownsville, TX. Edward graduated from Palmer H.S. in Palmer Alaska and Oregon State University. He retired from the USAF as a Lt. Colonel in 1977 and worked for the USAF as a civil servant until retiring in 1994. Edward is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Eva Georgetta; son, Michael, and daughter, Cynthia Tome. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Jane Deeley of Memphis, TN and 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie and daughter in-law, Patricia. Edward and Georgetta enjoyed traveling including several cruises together and with family in recent years. He volunteered at the National Museum of the USAF for 30 years, was a member of the International Plastic Modelers Association (IPMS) for 40 years and a member of the Forward Air Controllers (FAC) since 1968. Edwards’ wife Georgetta and his family would like to thank their friends for their kind thoughts and prayers through this difficult time. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 p.m. until funeral services at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME – BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall Rd. A private interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, Edward would favor donations to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.
