

Eleanor was born on June 5th, 1933 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to Nicola and Harriet (Elbert) Salvi. After graduating from Roosevelt High School, she worked as a typist at Standard Register. In 1954, she married the love of her life, John “Jack” Schwab. Jack was an officer in the United States Air Force, and they were stationed in many states and countries with their children throughout his career. Eleanor was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother as well as a beloved friend to all. She will be remembered for her wonderful cooking skills, her love of singing and music, and writing of poetry.
Eleanor is survived by her children, John (Beth) Schwab, Jean (Kurt) Eyink, Judy (Tom) Wheeler, Jim Schwab, and Jeff Schwab; her grandchildren, Jackie (Nick) Combs, Julie Eyink, Jacob and Polly Schwab, Brittany Schwab, and Jason (Ashley) Wheeler; her great grandchildren Trevor and Kendall Combs and Merritt Wheeler; her sister, Marlene Salvi; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Louis and Armand Salvi, sisters Virgina D’Angelo, Vera Coburn and Rita Harris.
The family will receive visitors from 4 to 6 PM on Monday, May 25th at Tobias Funeral Home, 3970 Dayton Xenia Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, May 26th at St. Luke Catholic Church, 1440 N. Fairfield Rd. Immediately following the service, interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.
