Friel, Elizabeth A. (Libby), 78, of Centerville, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Hospice of Dayton. She is preceded in death by her parents Gerald and Elisabeth (Mulholland) McMahon. Survived by her husband William (Bill) Friel; children Elisabeth (Dennis) Friel-Wahle, Christine (Phil) Moyer, Suzanne (Dee) Vaughn, Sean (Jan) Friel; sister Karen (Rick) Andress; grandchildren Phillip (Kyrsten), Nathan (Kay), Kelly (Mikali), Marissa (Jerome), Lonnie, Abbie, Emmalyn, Erin, Liam, Will, Shannon; great grandchildren Delphi, Mic. Libby was a 1963 graduate of the Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital School of Nursing; she worked as a nurse until she got married. She enjoyed traveling a lot and became very active at St. Helen Elementary School as a volunteer. She was very active with the Altar Rosary Society, the Christmas Charitable Bazaar; the Parish Council and the Spring Festival. She had a great love of art and volunteered at Marco’s Paper as an artist of many mediums. Family will receive friends at the Church of the Ascension, 2025 Woodman Dr. from 10 – 11 AM Thursday, March 4, 2021. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Thursday at the church. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in her memory.
