OBITUARY
Eugene Edward and Patricia Ann McMahon
Eugene Edward McMahon (Duce/Gene), 90, and Patricia Ann McMahon (Pat), 84, passed from this life to the next on January 13, 2021 and January 15, 2021, respectively. The couple of 50 years is survived by their three children: James Michael (Janie) McMahon, Eric McMahon, and Kristie (David) Schuller. Six grandchildren: Terra (Brett) Stanley, Tom (Vanessa) McMahon, Emily (Aaron) Houser, Megan McMahon, Evan Schuller and Owen Schuller. All these along with 7 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Gene served in the Airforce and worked as an engraver until his retirement. He will be remembered for his witty toasts and signature blue jacket. He inspired all of us with his strong work ethic and a DIY mentality whose vocabulary didn’t include the words “I Can’t.” Hundreds of kids would visit their home to see him dressed as Dracula each Halloween. At Christmas, Duce would hang a Christmas tree from the ceiling attached to a motor that rotated the tree 13 times a minute. He provided a wonderful home and arranged for the best possible care for Pat during her illness. Pat, a retired beautician, best known for her laugh and occasional snort, never met a stranger and was the first to step up when a friend was in need. She was well loved by many friends for her warmth and love of life. She never drove a car, but could be spotted in the neighborhood happily walking, running, or riding her bike with a basket full of groceries and salon supplies. She baked fresh bread, whipped up the most delicious desserts, and could throw together an amazing meal from whatever was on hand. She loved to cook without a book. Together they were the example of true love, a force at the card table, and the center of attention on the dance floor. A graveside service at Calvary Cemetery is planned for Saturday, January 30, 2021 at noon, weather permitting. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Memory Care staff at Harbor Chase and Vitas Hospice for their caring and compassionate care of Gene and Pat and our entire family. Should friends desire, memorial contributions can be made to Vitas Hospice of Dayton (https://vitascommunityconnection.org/) or to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org/dayton)

Pat , Duce and their children Kristie and Eric moved next door to us in Greensboro NC. neighbors that became our family. Memories are eternally in our hearts. They were the most loving and
Wonderful friends we could have ever been blessed with. We ate some of the best food ever prepared by pat. And I introduced Duce to biscuits and sausage gravy plus grits.....which he hated But ate to please me.!! We always laughed watching him eat southern style food
Even though they moved back To Ohio our friendship remained fast and close.
We visited pat & Duce many times over the years. And always spent time with them when they were here visiting Eric
Our love , prayers and sympathy to their wonderful children & grandchildren that took such loving care of Pat and Duce.
We love you . And we loved your parents so much

So thankful for Duce and Pat; they have been a very important part of my and my family’s life. They were generous, loving and a joy to be around. We shared many wonderful laughter-filled times together. Hard working and can-do spirit were qualities they possessed and demonstrated as they walked through life together. We miss them greatly!

I was saddened to hear of their passing. My fond memory of Duce was when he was in high school and I was a little girl. Duce would visit my brothers, Glenn and Jim Ayers. Duce was always smiling and so good looking.
And Pat, Pat was a gem. I didn’t meet Pat until Colleen and Jim were married because Pat was a friend of Colleen. I loved hearing Pat laugh and snort. She was a fun loving lady and made her own crackers. I loved her.

Kristie, Eric & family,
Sending our condolences. Thank you for contacting us, and we will be attending the service.
Your mom & dad were the best! We always enjoyed being with them, no matter what we were doing. We always had a great time, & laughter was a common thread. Jessica & Justin send their sympathy also. Jessica will always remember the white room! She was especially close to Pat & loved her dearly, as if she were her grandmother. It was our blessing to know them & be able to share so many years together with your family. God be with all of you during this time & beyond. Love & prayers.

Kristie,
Your parents were such loving, fun people. I always felt so welcome when I came to their home and Pat cut my hair - always with the scent of something she had just baked filling the air. And Duce would be nearby, adding laughter to the room. He always had a project of one kind or another on the back burner. Know how much you are missing them. Sending my sympathy and prayers to you and your family.

I am so sorry for the loss of your parents. They bring back memories living next to our parents and you all were just kids. I remember Pat’s laugh for sure and Duce was always remodeling something. I remember him being an accomplished handyman!
There is something extra special about them entering heaven together. They never had to be without each other❤️🙏❤️
God Bless you all and prayers for peace and comfort knowing that they are happy and healthy again with Gods arms wrapped tightly around them.
Love you all!

I have loved and respected Mr. and Mrs. McMahon from the time I met them. It was always a joy to see and spend time with them. Most of our time together was spent eating then playing Bid 500 until we laughed until we cried with my goal of making Mrs. McMahon snort at least once. One time, during a furious game of Bid 500, I made a comment that caused quite an uproar and brought Mr. McMahon to tears. When I was leaving, Mrs. McMahon thanked me and said that had never happened before. An amazing couple that set an example of life long commitment and love that is not seen in our society today. Now they are together again in Heaven, fully restored, in the presence of God.

Gene and Pat will be greatly missed by our HarborChase family. Dinner will not be the same without Gene yelling "come on, where's the food?" Lol

Our deepest sympathy. Your parents were such wonderful people. They will live in our memories forever as a couple who loved each other and loved their family deeply. Your mothers laughter and your fathers amazing DIY challenges that he met head on and projects that were stunning! Anything Aunt Pat wanted would find its way into a special project for her and Uncle Duce would make it happen. They will be missed. All our love, Charlie and Brenda
