Eugene B. Wilson, age 85, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2020, in Beavercreek, Ohio. Gene was one of ten children born to Burgan Wilson and Marie (Sauber) Wilson in Delphos, Ohio, on April 25, 1935. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Nicholas Wilson, on December 16, 1979; and 8 of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary (Rohman) Wilson; two daughters Marie (Perry) Evans and Kathleen (Richard) Larimer; six grandchildren Mahaley Evans, Joel Evans, Nicholas Larimer, Conner Larimer, Luke Larimer, and Julianne Larimer; brother Michael Wilson; and many nieces and nephews. Gene graduated from Delphos St. John’s High School, served in the U.S. Army, received a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Dayton, attended Kent State University, and received his Master’s in Public Administration from Central Michigan University. He had a long career in Scientific Intelligence at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base’s Foreign Technology Division (now NASIC) and worked in Panama for the Department of the Army during the transfer of the Panama Canal in 1978-1979. Gene had a strong faith and a commitment to public service. He served on Emmanuel Catholic Church’s Parish Council for many years, was appointed to the Committee of Eleven, a member of the Beavercreek Jaycee’s, the International Jaycee’s, was a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 3730, achieved 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus, and was a member of the National Management Association. Gene was also instrumental in helping to start the Beavercreek Women’s League. He valued family above all else and always had a smile on his face. Gene never knew a stranger, taking a keen interest in anyone he met, and always opened his home to those who were alone or separated from family during the holidays. A special thanks to Trinity Community of Beavercreek and Hospice of Dayton for their compassionate care. A private graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery on August 6, 2020. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Dayton or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

It was my honor to have Gene work for me at FTD/W-PAFB twice. It isn't possible to come up with all the superlatives he deserves. Brilliant, dedicated, loyal, intuitive, patriot, leader are a few but dependable and fun are the two I most value. Could never get him to call be by first name; wasn't his style, respect was. A great supervisor who cared so much for his people, he would sacrifice his time and energy to make someone's life a little better. Like so many, I loved him and wish we could have done more to ease the burden of the health issues he bravely confronted for so long. Sincere condolences, Larry Benson, Col USAF (Ret) - aka the guy who came up with your soon to be beloved fur ball kitty somewhere around 1982 or1983

Uncle Gene was always ready with a story. I'll treasure the memory of his "magic ring" and the letters I received from him while stationed in Panama.

I’ll always remember his magic ring. And listening to my dad and him tell stories. Love to all of you.
