

SMITH, Frank W. 87, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013 at the Masonic Home in Springfield, OH. Frank was born May 30, 1926 in Red Town, OH to the late Frank and Fannie Smith. He was married to Alberta J. Smith for 36 years who survives him. He was a Navy vet where he served on the Destroyer SS Alkaid during WWII where he was injured. He was employed at Frigidaire, owned and operated Frank's Marathon station on N. Main St., Dayton. After the closing of his station he worked at Harrison Radiator where he was retired from. He was a member of the Millenium Lodge # 779 F &AM, in Dayton, for 61 years, a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, member of the Antioch Shrine and a member of the Beaver Valley Order of Eastern Star Chapter # 570. He was a member of Parkview Church of the Nazarene and IUE Local 801. He was a member of the National Campers and Travelers Club where he served as state director for 1 year. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling cross country in hismotor home with Bertie. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Marcia (Andrew) Loomis of Centennial, CO, Douglas Smith of Dayton, OH, Richard (Linda) Smith of Dayton, OH, Linda (Gary) Ward of TX, Dolores (Larry) Loxley of Jamestown, OH, Pamela (Donald) Jernigan of Cookville, TN., grandchildren Jessica (Dave) Dollard, Christopher Loomis, David Loomis, Samantha Smith, Timothy (Jackie) Loxley, Tawyna (Riccci) Giesseman, Erin (Jay) Shuster, Christian Moore, Donna (Michael) McKnight, Donald (Betty) Jernigan II, Thomas (Neisha) Jernigan, Jennifer (Dwight) Phillips, Jason Jernigan, Jamie (Jon) Clouse; 16 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by son Christopher Smith, son and daughter-in-law Michael and Bonnie Moore and a brother John Smith. Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall Rd. Interment Miami Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 PM Monday. A masonic service will be held at 7:30 PM Monday at the funeral home.
