I will forever remember that fateful day on the trail at the National Jamboree. I built a dot in a circle of stones for your remembrance, as that is where you went home to God. May your soul forever be in peace.

My sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Gene Schulz. While the news is shocking to learn that a loved one has died suddenly, I hope you are comforted by knowing that he was serving others as a Boy Scout volunteer at the time of his death. Thanks be for Gene's life and his giving of himself to others.

Note: I'm a native of Mount Hope, WV, where the Scout Jamboree was held.

I am thankful to God for knowing Gene's love and acceptance of all through his son Matt; a man that is definitely his father's son. Thank you, Gene, for the kindness you have passed on to your family and friends. I am blessed to have known you.

God bless the entire Schulz family. I was a classmate of Gene's, and also a friend. He was a very caring and kind person, and always fun to be around. The Class of 1964 will miss him very much. I pray that the Lord will provide peace and comfort to all who knew him. My name is Peggy (Admire) Schulker, and I, my family, and all of our classmates send our love and condolences.

God gave us Gene and now He has taken him home again. Gene's kindness, generosity, and love of sharing knowledge, nature, and family and friends made him a special individual. May we all honor him by passing on to others what he has given to each of us. He was such a dear person and will be greatly missed.

Shirley, Ed and I are very heart broken over the death of Gene. I wish we could have been with you at his funeral, a very hard time for you and wanted to give you our support and love. We will miss Gene from our DESC family, but we hope you will still be part of our family. You are always welcome to stay with us when you can make it to St. Charles again and dinner at Trailhead. Sending you our love and friendship for always.

Gene and I grew up in the Beavercreek school system... all 12 grades! I thought that it was really neat that he grew up in that pretty white house at the corner of the Main School site. From an early age, Gene was always that kid/guy that never knew a stranger. He always had a kind word for everyone. We will miss you Gene.
