Geneva Jean (Hatmaker) Prater

Geneva Jean (Hatmaker) Prater, 92, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024 in Louisville, Kentucky. A proud native of Eastern Kentucky and an Air Force wife, Geneva was a woman of great strength and faith. Though she is deeply missed, her family takes comfort in the knowledge that she is resting in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 56 years, Vincent Prater, Jr.; her son Phillip Terry Douglas Prater; her sister Vivian Hatmaker Buchanan; and her brothers Fred, Kenneth, and Larry Hatmaker. Left to honor her legacy are her grandchildren, Lindsay Elizabeth Prater Graves (Kevin) and Ryan Phillip Prater (Maria Carla); her great-granddaughter Sara Benedetta; her beloved sister Lois Hatmaker Sunderman (Gus); her devoted daughter-in-law Susan Brokenshire-Prater; as well as her nephews, niece, and many cherished friends. A Gathering of Family and Friends for Geneva will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Tobias Funeral Home - Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45429. A Funeral Service will follow Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM, 5471 Far Hills Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45429. Final resting place Miami Cemetery, Corwin, Ohio.
