

MARR, GEORGE, age 91 of Centerville, OH passed away peacefully on March 7, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland to Alexander and Agnes Ferguson Marr. He arrived in America in 1925 and settled in Pawtucket, RI with his family. In 1941, he graduated from East High School. Soon after, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific until 1945. The night he returned from active duty, he met his future wife Lori O’Brien Marr. They married on September 20, 1947 and celebrated 66 years of marriage before her death in 2013. George was an avid sports fan and athlete participating in basketball, baseball, golf and bowling. He was a member of Walnut Grove Country Club. George leaves behind sons George Dennis Marr (Linda) of Feeding Hills, MA, Jeffrey Marr (Karen) of Miamisburg, OH and daughter Cheryl Pottmeyer (Dan) of Nashport, OH, granddaughters Jamie Pottmeyer Delsandro (Dominic), Kristen Pottmeyer Thomas (Jesse) and Jennifer Marr (Len). Great-grandchildren are Izaak and Claire Delsandro and Spencer Thomas. His brother, Robert, who resides in Amherst, OH was his best friend and dearest supporter. George also leaves two sisters-in-law, Gladys O’Brien Clark and Freda O’Brien Luther of Pawtucket, RI. George loved his many nieces and nephews and their families. We give special thanks to the Ensor family and Jenny Newdigate for their loving and faithful care. The family will receive friends at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Rd., Dayton, OH 45429, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015 with military honors.
