

George J. Watson, 95 of Riverside passed away peacefully in his home Thursday, December 14, 2017. George was born in Dundas, OH on January 1, 1922 to Charles and Naomi Watson who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by Jane, his beloved wife of 59 years, as well as two sisters, Florence Barnhouse and Louise Long, and six brothers: Arthur Melvin, Floyd, Charles, Donald, Homer and Lemar Watson. He is survived by his son David Watson of Riverside and sister, Ruth West of Blacklick, and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends. George was a 1939 graduate of MacArthur High School. Following graduation he spent 3 years in the Civilian Conservation Corp in the Zaleski National Forest; he later joined the US Army Air Corps and was stationed in Norwich, England during World War II. Upon his return he was employed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base as a procurement analyst until his retirement. He had a 30 year long second career at Dayton Pattern as an office manager. He was a 65 year member of Community United Methodist Church and Alpha Lodge 729 F&AM. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton and the Antioch Shrine. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 5-8 PM and again from 10-11 AM on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Fritz Merkes officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery.
