We are sad to announce the passing of Gertrude “Trudy” Johnson. Trudy was born on October 12, 1930, in Oshawa, Ontario, to Claude and Etta Degering. She is survived by her husband of nearly 75 years, Dean Johnson; her sons, Brian and Bruce Johnson; four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
During her years as a teacher at Dayton Junior Academy and its successor, Spring Valley Academy, Trudy touched the lives of countless students and families. Her influence extended far beyond the classroom, and she will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives she touched.
A celebration of life service will be held at Centerville SDA Church on September 26, 2026, at 4:00 PM. In honor of her legacy, the family invites those who wish to make a memorial contribution to consider a donation to Spring Valley Academy in lieu of flowers.
