Glenda D. Spearman

Glenda Darnell Spearman (née Landers) was born to Eleson H. Landers and Ulessie Banks Landers in Magnolia, Arkansas on August 22, 1949. The eldest of four children, she is preceded in death by her brother Ellison (Ricky) Landers, and is survived by her sisters Belondria "Tiger" Morton and Winder Jean Morgan.

Glenda was affectionately known as "Penny" to close family members. She spent the first years of her childhood in Arkansas with Henry and Cassie Landers (Big Papa and Big Mama) before moving to Dayton, Ohio in the early 1960s. She attended Roosevelt High School and was a member of Bethel Church of God in Christ. It was during her time in Ohio that she met and married the man who would become her lifelong best friend and spiritual mentor, Norman Lee Spearman (deceased). With him, she raised four children- Elesia Hemm (Dave), Sheena Spearman (Mark Sagrans), Chel-lee Savic (Luka), and Norman Jarmaal Spearman, who are left to treasure and lovingly cherish memories of her. Glenda had a lifelong passion for learning- from the visual and fine \arts to literature and mathematics. But her greatest pleasure in life was in crafting time for family and friends. Her devotion to her faith and family was paramount. She happily welcomed friends and family to her home which was often filled with singing and the smell of her delicious home cooking. She took great pride in sewing outfits for her family and creating a beautiful home environment. Her stalwart support and encouragement could always be counted upon. She never "met a stranger” and loved spending immeasurable amounts of time with everyone she encountered, and leaves a far-reaching legacy of friendship and influence that is undeniable. In addition to her children, her unmatched adoration also extends to her grandchildren- Alex Hemm, Chloe Hemm, Nina Hemm, Brighton Sagrans, Jae'Lynn Spearman, Norman Jarmaal Spearman Jr, Nivea Spearman, Naja Spearman, and Seantenae Parker Spearman. Glenda was preceded in death by her sweet angel grand-daughter Jordan Spearman. Her "grands" were her pride and joy, and she could always be heard touting their accomplishments. There are also many dear relatives- nieces, nephews, and cousins- as well as close friends (including Robert Taylor) who also survive to warmly and deeply remember her unending kindness and bigness of heart.

Visitation will be held at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Ave, Dayton, OH 45429, US, on July 22, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am. A Committal Service will take place at West Memory Gardens, 6722 Hemple Rd, Moraine, OH 45439. There will be a repast featuring light refreshments at Tobias Funeral Home following the Committal Service.
